Justice League of America, Vol. 1 – Issue 194

£2.00

At the Metropolis Carnival, Clark Kent and Lois Lane enjoy the sights before Kent hears a voice from a fortune teller’s tent that appears to read his thoughts. Entering, he is struck by a character called the Hermit who not only reveals Kent as Superman but ages him. In Central City, the Elongated Man, his wife Sue and The Flash are jogging around a lake before they see a man walking over the water. Approaching him, another appears and as the first, the Fool, attacks Elongated Man, so the second, the Magician, attacks the Flash. Testing a jet, Hal Jordan sees the High Priestess before him and is convinced by her to leave the plane and follow her. Doing so, he regains his senses momentarily, becomes Green Lantern and saves himself and the plane. Green Arrow and Black Canary are accosted by the Charioteer who disappears after defeating them. Aboard the JLA satellite, Zatanna is attacked by the Devil and his two minions, being struck blind by them. When the other afflicted members arrive at the Satellite to ask her help, they are able to work out that their attackers are images from a Tarot deck and that Amos Fortune is behind their troubles. Tracking him down, they overcome the problems caused by the card characters and defeat the last one, Death, that Fortune sends against them. Attempting to flee the victorious League, Fortune transports himself into one of the cards – the Tower – before realising the mistake he had made.
