Justice League of America, Vol. 1 – Issue 239

Aquaman explains to Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash why he disbanded the League after the Earth-Mars war and reformed it with the newer heroes later. Later, Zatanna finds Vixen embracing Dale Gunn even though she had previously shown an interest in him. They are interrupted, however, by Vibe’s sister arriving at the headquarters; she is at the head of a group of civilians who need the League’s help as one of their own has been kidnapped by General Maksai who demands Vixen meet him. When Vixen argues with Aquaman and tries to leave, he uses his telepathy against her before J’onn J’onnz stops him, allowing Vixen to leave. Vixen meets with Maksai who demands the Tantu Totem, the source of Vixen’s power. The Toetem corrupts him, however, and transforms him into an animal; battling him, Maksai falls on to a shard of metal and dies.
