The Brave and the Bold, Vol. 1 – Issue 59

John Starr, a recently escaped criminal, claims publically in the form of a movie that he was framed. Presenting some filmed evidence to support that claim, he convinced a significant number of movie-goers of his innocence. When the Time Commander summons Bruce Wayne to a meeting, Wayne learns that the Time Commander is Starr, and that he’s deduced Bruce’s Batman identity by looking into the past. He asks for help investigating his framing, and he and Bruce shake on it. Shortly thereafter, Green Lantern receives a telegram from Batman, asking for help. Finding Batman in Wayne Manor, lying in need of help due to an accident with experimental crime investigation chemicals, Green Lantern uses his ring to get Batman back up to full strength. On his way out of town, Green Lantern learns that Batman has been involved in a series of crimes, using the power he absorbed from Green Lantern. The Green Lantern returns to Wayne Manor, where he finds and entraps Bruce Wayne. Wayne insists he didn’t send the telegram, and they both realize that they have been duped by the Time Commander, who was guilty of the crime he’d been imprisoned for committing. Joining forces to stop him, their confrontation ends with Batman being sent into the future, and Green Lantern being sent into the past, each a day out of sync with the correct time. The Time Commander seems unstoppable, until his hourglass device is shattered by a high pitched sound. It seems that, in the past, Green Lantern studied the Time Commander’s work, and learned the precise frequency needed to destroy the device. Using his ring to send a message to the future, he informed Batman of the frequency, and Batman then set up a local siren to broadcast the right frequency at the right time. Finally, the Green Lantern keeps the promise made as a Justice Leaguer, and uses his ring to wipe the memory of Bruce Wayne’s secret identity from his mind.
